Wisconsin Business Incubation Association Announces 2017's Board of Directors

Wisconsin Business Innovation Association (WBIA), a driving force in the professional development of entrepreneurial program managers has announced this year's board of directors.  Elizabeth Slade from the Advance Business & Manufacturing Center in Green Bay, said "Being a part of WBIA is vital to my success as a program manager.  It is a tremendous blessing to be involved with such a supportive group of people that continue to teach me how to improve myself both professionally and personally."

WBIA's 2017 Board of Directors:

  • President - Elizabeth Slade, Advance Business & Manufacturing Center and Brown County Culinary Kitchen in Green Bay, WI.
  • Vice President - Romey Wagner, Entrepreneurial and Education Center, Wausau, WI
  • Treasurer - Mark Johnson, Whitewater University Technology Park, Whitewater, WI
  • Secretary - Thalia Mendez, Gateway Technical College, Racine, WI
  • Karman Briggs - Western Dairyland Community Action Agency, Eau Claire, WI
  • Dale Kupczyk - Ashland Area Enterprise Center, Ashland, WI
  • Amy Pietsch - Fox Valley Technical College Venture Center, Appleton, WI
  • Rick Roeser - Northwest Regional Planning Commission, Spooner, WI
  • Doug Thurlow - Grant Specialist, Madison, WI

WBIA would like to acknowledge our outgoing board members Brad Niemcek, Director of the Kickapoo Culinary Center, Gays Mills and Mike Mathews, President of Economic Growth Advisors, LLC, Middleton have served on the board for six years.  Barry McLean, Project Manager of the Vilas County Business Incubator, Eagle River served on the board for three years.  "Individuals like Brad, Mike and Barry will always be a part of the organization and they are leaving behind a wonderful legacy that will continue to flourish," says Slade.

The WBIA is in the process of rebranding and has introduced a new logo, website and hosted the first Great Lakes International Innovation Summit (GLIn2) in Milwaukee. In addition the organization changed its name from the Wisconsin Business Incubation Association to the Wisconsin Business Innovation Association. Slade shares that, "Each community engages with entrepreneurs in different ways.  Some have maker spaces, coworking spaces, fab labs, incubators, shared-use kitchens, economic development professionals or combinations of them.  It is important that we continue to equip professionals with the skills and tools necessary for success."  This year WBIA will be creating a new mission and vision statement as well as launching a FaceBook page. 

The Wisconsin Business Incubation Association is a 501(c) 3 non-profit corporation that was founded in 1998. WBIA meets quarterly at incubators throughout Wisconsin and Illinois. The WBIA provides entrepreneurial programs and economic development professionals with information, education, policy recommendations, advocacy and networking resources that assist start-up companies.
