Western Dairyland Presents Two Awards at the 5th Annual Women’s Business Celebration!

The Western Dairyland Women’s Business Center is pleased to announce the recipients of two awards that were presented at the 5th Annual Women in Business Celebration Luncheon held on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at The Florian Gardens in Eau Claire.

 

New Business of the Year Award: This award goes to a business that was launched in the 2016/2017 Small Business Administration (SBA) grant year via services provided by the Women's Business Center and is innovative, interesting, and has great potential for future growth and sustainability.

Nominees:

Winner of the New Business of the Year Award:

Melissa Wilson, owner of Melnaturel LLC began making her first Eyelash Growth Serum for family and friends. Taking her product to social media, she quickly sold 165 bottles of product in the first two weeks and determined she needed to start an official business. Melissa worked closely with the staff at the Western Dairyland Women’s Business Center to develop her business plan, research the cosmetic industry, and develop financial projections. After additional product testing and with the launch of a full natural skincare line, Melnaturel has sold in more than twenty states and Australia. Products may be purchased online and at The Local Store.

 

 

Business Woman of the Year Award: This award goes to an established business owner or community leader who is extensively involved with and supportive of the Women’s Business Center and its mission to assist other women in starting, expanding, or growing a small business.

 

Winner of the Business Woman of the Year Award:

Beth Waldhart, Business Banker and Assistant Vice President at Charter Bank has an extensive background in working with start-up and 2nd stage companies, and is specifically passionate about supporting the growth of women-owned businesses. Beth serves on the Western Dairyland Women’s Business Center Advisory Board, The InnovateHer Challenge judges panel and the Community Action Revolving Loan Fund Committee, while endlessly providing individual information and education for women to be able to access the capital needed to realize their entrepreneurial dreams.
